What is DNS?
The Domain Name System (DNS) is like a phone book for the internet. When you type in a domain name on a browser, the DNS system is what tells your browser what server to go get the website from. There is not just one big storage location for DNS records though. They are spread all over the internet and provided by many different companies. If the company you choose for your DNS records has a lot of downtime, this means your website will not be reachable during their outages. This is why we use Amazon Web Services for our premium DNS management. They are reliable and they guarantee 100% DNS uptime for our customers.
How often is my site backed up?
We typically do a full-site backup of our Joomla and Wordpress sites once a month and store them offsite on an Amazon S3 server. We store up to 10 offsite backups for each site. If you need greater frequency or more saved backups, we can customize your package to accommodate your needs.
How many monthly visitors should I choose?
If you don’t have an existing site with past statistics to look at, we know it’s hard to estimate how many monthly site visitors your’ll likely have. In that case, we look at the size of your site, the features and functionality on your site, and your intended audience and we’ll recommend a hosting plan. After about 6 months, we’ll adjust your plan for higher or lower site traffic if needed.
Do I have to sign a long-term contract?
We have one year pre-paid agreements for our hosting packages. If you need to move your site or shut it down during the year, we’ll refund up to 6 months of your package price.
Can I still manage my own site or have ftp access?
You always have the option to manage your own website and we can set up ftp access to your site files if you need it.
